Caetani Castle Sermoneta
Chris has a love of Italy, the various sunlight throughout the day enhances the wonderful terracotta architecture, with backdrops of stunning blue skies. making for pieces of art that lifts the spirits
.Caetani Castle rises majestically over the Italian town of Semoneta dominating the entire Pontine plain.
Built in early 1200 by Annibaldi, and later enriched with defensive works that were to make it impregnable.
The castle is certainly one of most intact ancient medieval monuments in Lazio and even Italy and well worth a visit, going inside many furnishings are still complete, the infornation our guide gave was exellent her joy and enthusiam for her job was second to none, we followed the visit by a most wonderful lunch at the restaurant just outside the main gate, very friendly service and good value as is the case in most Italian restaurants.
Painting this was a joy to relive a memorable day.
